Body of missing diver found off Santa Cruz Island - San Jose Mercury News
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—Authorities say the body of a missing diver has been found in the waters off Santa Cruz Island. The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department says 59-year-old William Arlo Ooms of Solvang was reported missing Friday afternoon from a 22-foot dive boat named the Coram Deo.
The National Park Service conducted a search along with officials from Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties. A Coast Guard helicopter also was used.
Several hours later snorkelers from the Coram Deo came upon Ooms' body on the north side of the island.
The body was brought to the Coast Guard station at the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, where Oooms was pronounced dead.
Coroner's officials are conducting an investigation into the cause and manner of death.

We, as divers, are not starting out the year as we would like it. Not another death! Prayers go out to those left behind.
