I'm going to be in So Cal over Thanksgiving and want to do some diving/lobster diving in particular. Any suggestions for boats that leave near San Pedro or Orange County? My primary concerns are 1) cost 2) allow game.

Also, are there any places around those two areas that rent kayaks for kayak diving? Thanks for the suggestions!

Howdy!

There are lots of places to catch lobster off the shore if you are into beach diving in Laguna (Orange County). I know that the Great Escape (my favorite boat) is going to San Clemente Island on November 20th. Not sure of any boats that will be actually going out over the Thanksgiving weekend.

If you want to dive locally (beach) PM me. I'd be happy to go out with you. Also, The Nov Wrinkles trip looks like it might be happening on the 26th or the 27th. Another option would be to take the Catalina Express to Casino Point, however, you are not allowed to take bugs, for it's a reserve, but well worth it to dive and photograph. For schedule of California dive boats, check out http://www.diver.net and follow the link to the boats.

Re Kayak rentals to dive from, I know Sea Ventures in Fullerton rents them.

Good Luck!
