I thought Bonine was an anti-nausea pill as opposed to an antihistime. I also take an antihistimine when I'm feeling fine for, I thought, other reasons.

It's both. Most motion sickness drugs are antihistimines. I worry about people who take antihistimines in addition to antihistimines. It's good to know what you're mixing.

PREPARATIONS: tablets: 12.5mg (ANTIVERT), 25mg, 50mg (ANTIVERT).

STORAGE: Meclizine should be stored between 36 and 86 degrees F.

PRESCRIBED FOR: It is used for the treatment of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness. Meclizine is also possibly effective in the treatment of vertigo (balance disorder) related to diseases of the body's balance (vestibular) system.

DOSING: In treating symptoms of motion sickness, meclizine should be taken initially one hour prior to travel. BONINE is available as a chewable tablet.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Meclizine can cause drowsiness. Alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers can increase the drowsiness of meclizine and should be avoided while taking it and only after consulting the doctor. Meclizine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

PREGNANCY: Usage in pregnancy should be discussed with the doctor.

SIDE EFFECTS: Side effects include drowsiness. Meclizine can also cause dry mouth and, rarely, blurred vision.

I suffer from motion sickness both on boats and airplanes. Anytime I've felt a little sick on the boat, getting under water has always solved my problem immediately. Now I've begun using the patch (which I love!!), so no longer have concerns about motion sickness on a boat or plane.

Antihistimine Pump. Some will cut them in half, whcih causes problems. Can also cause withdrawal problems if pulled off early.

If your on a small boat and feel sick, lie in the middle of the deck with your head towards the bow. I was diving in Grand Cayman and someone got sick, boat captain told him to do this. Later on he told me it worked. Just another Tip.

Thanks for the info, DD. I had NO idea I was doubling up. That might explain why my wife's sinuses where so dried up for so long! Lucky that's all.

Hi everyone,

I have just got the chance to do a boat dive off the north east coast in England. Never done a sea dive before and I am concerned about sea sickness under the water. Has this happenend to anyone and if so any tips on dealing with it. Not worried too much about the cold, got new drysuit to cope with that. Any advice gratefully received. I have heard a few horror stories about people throwing up under water and have to confess that would totally freak me out!

almost half my divng has been from boats, i get sea sick sometimes the first time in australia, i was recomended to get kwells your local pharmacy will have them, even the ones in sainsbuys have em, they were recomended by my dive instructor in OZ, she said some are OK to dive with and some are not, kwells are OK, take one 20 mins before you get on the boat, no problems and enjoy the dive
this might make me sound like a bit of a freak, but i found being sea sick under water as amuzing as it was uncomfortable, the first time i was on the wreck of the HMAS SWAN out of dounsborough WA, 30m down i was sick, and the fish came from know where, i was lost in a ball of feeding fish, my dive buddy wanted me to abort the dive
but at the end of the day i LOVE diving, there was no way i was getting out, i had seen probably more fish than every one else put together on that dive, the worst thing about it, is the bad taste afterwards, i now have a bit of tooth paste every dive now, same ammount as you'd brush your teeth with, don't wrinse it out, unless you have to spit out your reg, you'll have a minty taste throughout the dive, an who knows it might even be good for your teeth
