Hi All -

I'm not much for most online fora, but I've been a lurker for a while and thought I might as well say 'hi'.

I'm a recent transplant to the Bethesda, MD area - and as my handle suggets, I'm a big underwater nerd (PhD in marine biology).

Motivations for finally saying hi:
- looking for dive buddies in the area
- selling some camera gear that I used in grad school

Hope to see some of you underwater!

- Jim

Hi Jim, and welcome! We can always use more marine biologists here--what are your key interests?

I see that you've already managed to post your photo equipment for sale, and as for the dive buddies in the Bethesda area, you might want to check out the regional forum for the area, Mid-Atlantic Bottom Feeders to see what's going on locally.

Hi Quero -

My main areas of expertise are:
- Corals: physiology, energetics and ecosystem modeling (e.g., how warming and acidification are going to clobber reefs in the coming decades).
- Biodiversity theory: how biological diversity in marine communities is assembled and maintained through time.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Bottom Feeders - I'll check-in on the board.
