Heading to Cozumel with the family in June. 4 average divers and 2 newly certified. Heard that Blue XT Sea Diving was really good. Any Pros and cons. We dove with Sanddollar a year ago when we stopped with a cruise. Was not really impressed but they are the only ones we know. Any Help
Thanks

Try posting in the cozumel section. You'll have better luck. How old are your kids. I have a 10 and 13 year old that both dive. We hae blast diving together!

Nothing but good things to say about BXTS.
If there is anything specific you want to know just ask and I'll (or others here) will answer.

All pros, no cons... book w/ Christi. You won't regret it. We've been out with her for our past 8 or 9 trips and won't use anyone else. The good thing about 6 divers is that you're pretty much guaranteed to have your own boat.

I've been dying to tell this story but haven't had the chance to yet. Trust me, I'll bring it up again though!!! Here goes:

When we were down in November (diving with Blue XT~Sea of course) one day we were doing our surface interval down at the far southern concrete pier (does it have a name?), Mia and I were laying there trying to get some sun and right next to us was a very large boat with about 25-30 divers on it. I don't want to name names but I'll give 2 hints: 1) It's the other op listed in this thread. 2) starts with Sand, ends with $.

Anyway, the divemaster of the boat was giving the pre-dive briefing of the next reef they were going to do: La Francesca... 40 (50 feet? whatever) feet for 40 minutes or 700 psi, whichever comes first. 40 minutes?!? That's crazy!!! if you have even moderate air consumption you're being royally cheated.

FWIW, we ended up doing La Francesca the next day and Mia and I got almost 70 minutes out of our tanks. Yes, they were AL80's, the same as the other ops.

Just goes to prove my point that there is absolutely no reason (at least for me) to EVER dive with a cattle boat operation.

As I mentioned earlier, get used to hearing this story... now all i have to do is copy & paste :D

Well said, with all the good dive ops in Coz offering 6 pax boats there is no reason to subject yourself to a cattle boats. Even of you choose to go with a different dive op than BXTS don't limit your dive experience by going on a cattle boat.

Also, use the search function on the Cozumel Forum and you'll find that people who dive Coz on a regular basis are pretty passionate about the dive ops that they use.
Here is a quick search I did on "favorite Dive op", http://www.scubaboard.com/search.php?searchid=4230378
Take a look...

Some people prefer them. I don't, speaking for myself, but plenty of others have posted differing opinions; they like the slow pace, the opportunity to socialize, the onboard head, etc., that a larger boat provides. Not everyone who dives from a "cattle boat" does so because they don't know any better. DSFDF and YMMV.

And to be fair, not all of them limit your bottom time either. They're just not for me.

Welcome to SB. I see your Intro got moved to this forum...

You certainly can't go wrong with them. One of the very best on the island, well worth the extra costs with their very safe approach and valet services. Christi often helps with information here on this forum, so with the above - probly the most popular Op on this forum, so it should be easy to find several threads about experiences with the Op.

There are certainly many other good Ops on the island, and I use a cheaper one myself, but this is certainly a good starting place for shopping. Be sure to print off the restaurant guide off the site, too.

Book with Blue XT Sea! Chrissy does a great job, excellent boats, top notch Captians and DMs.
C-H-R-I-S-T-I. Ron kept leaving the H out of her name, and now "Chrissy"...? :11:
