As if that wasn't bad enough, they followed it up on Monday (today) with another front page headline - Jaws 2 – with the shot of a basking shark dorsal fin. A stupid cow had filmed a basking shark and then punted it to the Sun, who made it into a great white. The footage is typical basking shark behaviour, but heh, when did the Sun ever let the facts get in the way of a good story????

My, that seems to be a classy newspaper. And I thought our press in the States was bad!

Playing devil's advocate....

As much as I love sharks and want to dive with them every chance I get, I would have to say that I would hesitate to swim in a beach where a GWS had recently been known to patrol. Don't really want to be in the water with one of these guys unless I have some steel or aircraft aluminum bars surrounding me.

If the whole story wasn't BS, that is....

Oh...I also got a good chuckle out of nurse and sand tigers listed among the most dangerous sharks.

Many times in the past when I worked for an aquarium, I had one of the worlds deadliest animals in my 220 gallon tank at home, (juvenile nurse sharks). No wonder I was afraid of my living room at night.

I'd love to dive with a GW sometime. :D

If I'm in a cage? Absolutely! :D
