when I surface, I have major blood in my mucus when I clear my nose. Doesn't this happen underwater? any suggestions?

Blood coming from any body orfice is not normal. Opinions vary widely, but if one of my students surfaced with blood coming from anywhere, I will not allow them to dive with me until a doctor clears them.

You may have equalized too hard or had a sinus problem. Let the wound heal and take my advice and get a medical opinion before diving again.

I used to get nose bleeds all the time, i have found that the earlier in the dive I start to clear my ears and the slower I ascend the less often it happens. Had a dive buddy who had surgery on his ears and he now clears better and has no nose bleeds. Now I am by no means a medical professional this is what has worked for me.

My 3rd. OW check out dive ended in a minor bloody nose.....eqlz. not enough,,,,mask sqz,,,,sinus congestion,,,,in most cases not a major thing---and the more you dive the less if any it will happen.

Your Dive Profile doesn't say about you, but I've seen this many times in newbies learning to equalize.
