The best advice I received prior to my first live aboard was to be absolutely ruthless with your non-dive gear packing. Be mindful of the anticipated weather and plan accordingly. No one is going to notice or care that you have rotated a couple of (quick drying) t-shirts and shorts during the week so go with the minimalist approach if possible.

Yea, I picked up several of those clamps at Harbor Freight the other day. As far as non-dive items, basically some toiletries, a couple swim suits, a couple t shirts, sweat pants, 1 pair shorts, sleeping shorts, hoodie (I tend to get cold regardless of temp), hat, and a pair of deck shoes or flip flops haven't decided, a couple towels, camera and that is about it except for a few small things bats and such.

Ah, almost forgot. Ready for the best tip you will get before your trip? Bring a water bottle. Sounds obvious enough, but out of about 20 guests on my trip only 2 or 3 brought them. And if you don't have it, you'll be drinking all your beverages - that's water, coffee, juice, wine, punch, and rum - out of the same red plastic mug with your name written on it.

I wish someone mentioned it to me before my trip, but for some reason it never came up and I was one of the many stuck with one smallish mug for drinking :)
