Hi Divers,

The Blacks are out everywhere in force lately! We spent two dives with NINE giants last Saturday and we have lots of great opportunities for you to come see them all week and all weekend!

Express will be running open boats this Wednesday 6/24 and Friday 6/26. I have a handful of spots left on Wednesday but only two left on Friday, so give me a call today to book yours. As always, Express is all inclusive and only $95 for these 3 tank trips with breakfast, lunch, tanks, weights, non-alcoholic beverages (BYOB;)), and that special Sundiver touch all included! Me and Cody will be your crew on 6/24, and Derek and Cody on 6/26.

Express also has open boats on Saturday 6/27 in the morning and afternoon (sleep in and still dive!), and and open boat on Sunday afternoon. These two tank trips are all inclusive and only take a small bite out of your weekends.

Sundiver has a rare open boat on Saturday too. We're sharing the big boat with Scuba Views of Las Vegas, so come enjoy a full day of diving and a light diver load on the amenity heavy Sundiver. For your comfort and enjoyment, Sundiver provides you the newest, cleanest, comfiest big boat and the friendliest, most professional crew around! Our bunkroom is heated or air-conditioned as needed, our galley is bright, airy, seats everyone and has a 27 inch Sony HD flat screen with Blu-Ray and cam hookups to view your U/W stills or video, and our meals are lush and varied. Trip spots Saturday are our low open boat price of only $125!

See you under,

I've had 16 of them on a single dive off our incredible island. However, they appear to be scattering a bit to new locations from some of the old tried and true ones.

I think they are just trying to keep us on our toes, Kyaa. Have a great trip.... you folks have a great boat!

Damn, can't get away for those weekday dives. Argh!!!

But I did see a baby giant black sea bass last weekend at Anacapa though. That mutha was hauling ass and didn't stop for anything. Very strange.

They tend to be transiting a lot from one location to another this time of the season, but then settle down more in courting groups. Of course the courting groups have already formed, but they seem to be more fluid at this time.

One of my divers came up saying she was pretty sure she wasn't preggers after the dive but that there had been an awful lot of 'chasing' going on underwater! :love3: Hope it leads to lots more baby blacks!

Funny, I've found that when I'm diving with a female buddy that male GSBs will tend to act aggressively towards me (through fin flaring and close approaches), but then go over and bill and coo next to my buddy... leaving their females unprotected from me! Maybe your diver better check with her doctor!

As far as I know the only case of GSB mating that has actually been observed was in the Long Beach Aquarium. To the best of my knowledge (and that of other scientists I've asked), no one has seen them mate in the wild... just court.

Oops- I meant Saturday. :D
