I have a question for everyone about these lights. I've only done a couple night dives so I am admittedly lacking in my light knowledge. I see one model that is a flood/spot light. The quoted lumens are pretty much for the flood mode with much less for the spot mode. There's another model that's like 50 bucks more that is only a spot light with the entire lumen rating for the spot light. It seems the more powerful spot light only would be better but would I be regretting not having the flood light mode available?

RobPNW, Sola also makes lights with red modes. We find this very useful for night dives, as many animals are less or not-at-all disturbed. Also: fewer worms in some waters. All Solas I’ve used (I think we have five, from 1500 to 15,000 lumen) have multiple power levels, which can substitute for flood/spot capability.

Yeah I noticed that. But in fairness their prices seem comparable to the BF sales I’m seeing on things I want. I know that‘s their pitch, but so far it seems legit.
