Hey all,

I am heading back home from school next week and was thinking of checking out Biscayne National park. I am looking for reviews of the sites and the companies that run there. Anyone who has dove there let me know where and what you thought of the site, was it worth the trip?

Thanks all,

Devin

They have a single operator at the site and have had some issues in the past with maintenance and running the boat effectively. I had a dive scheduled with them last year, which was cancelled due to mechanical issues. I also skipped another dive that my local dive group attended (scuba club south florida diving miami fort lauderdale palm beach), but the feedback was not good.

Again, I have yet to try them out this year and may just be there as soon as the waters warm up for me. Consult with others and get a collective feel. Personally, I would rather drive a bit more and hit a dive op in the lower keys.

Personally, b/c the park gets a tenth of the pressure of the upper Keys, the reefs are healthy and the "Wall" dive is great.

The shop - really the only OP that dives the park - is fine, but they do have some rules - like they only dove the wall on Sundays; and they had to have 4 divers on the boat - things like that. Its been a while so no clue if those rules are still in effect.

Its worth diving the park; and its close to Key Largo - but call and see what the story is, especially regarding the wall dive - if you can make it work, its worth it.

Overall, a unique, more pristine, area - close to the Keys but a fraction of the divers.

Post if you go.

Devin,

If you decide to check it out, when are you supposed to go?

I am also interested in.... It looks like they are under the new management.

From their website:

"We are under new management and want to thank you for your patience
BiscayneNationalPark@gmail.com"

I dove there about 2 years ago and had no problems at all. The wall dive was awesome! The reefs were also great and I had no problems with the OP at all, I thought they were good.

Based on the old threads, a wall diving is way to go and it used to be run every Sunday.
They need at least four more divers to go out.

All divers should bring a sausage and snorkel (PADI police)....

Hey all,

Thanks for the feedback, I checked with the shop and they dont start diving the wall for another month because conditions arent good yet. So I will be checking it out next month.

Thanks again for the tips

Devin
