Agreed Vtdiver. The state of US news media today is a babyfood like mush that is spoon fed to whomever will believe it. It is amazing to watch the BBC and get an outside perspective on world views.

Al Franken

you know...if you listen to him, sometimes he is actually pretty reasonable, yea, Al Franken is an aquired taste.
I love being surprised by people. Farrakhan even has a lot to offer...his position on men being good fathers, etc That's why you should get news from various sources...you aren't buying into anybody else's program about what to think.

BBC is okay..but again, to only listen to them is dangerous also.

I think O'Reilly is one of the funniest people on TV. He's so in love with himself and thinks his you know what doesn't smell he can be a real kick to watch if you don't take him seriously As far as Rosie goes I wouldn't even know what she says if it wasn't for the right always complaining about what she says. They give her more publicity than she would otherwise get.

I don't think we can talk about this.

But...I like him and Geraldo, and really enjoyed their last yelling match where they duked it out about immigration. They are both very passionate...shook hands at the end. I actually learn a lot on that show. One example of something I learned? Illegal immigrants have a lower crime rate than US citizens. I honestly think they present both sides more than any other news show.

But, Laura Ingram is my all time favorite. But...I like listening to anybody opinionated, on BOTH sides. NPR, the problem is it's too flat and makes me sleepy. Are they all on prozac? Some very good information on that show too, but it is not lively enough.

It is important to get your news from a number of sources, I try and skip around. The Beltway Boys are very cool, if you like friendly and civil.
The Korean stations? I even watch that...then I flip over and get mesmerized with the "Jimmy Swaggart Stations"...now that is interesting because they are getting more and more political. I never realized he sang and played the piano..I am flat out fascinated with people of all types, and listening to what they think and why.

Charlie Rangle and Chuck Schummer are original thinkers too. (two I love from "the other side")

I agree he seems latently angry at times. But ROSIE! Check her out lately? I predict her days are numbered..heard her called "the wrecking ball mouth" the other day.

I'm not too sure O'Reilly would agree he's entertainment first, and political editorial second... but, I like him as well... how many commentators post the e-mails of their own detractors... He makes more of an *effort* to balance his views (whether or not he succeeds) than any other commentator I've seen...

I'm also a Laura Ingram fan... as well as Barbara Olsen, prior to her death on flight 77 of 911 (although the "911 Hoax Conspiracy" bloggers have her alive and well somewhere)...

Chuck Schummer, in New York, is a full-time publicity hound... not unlike Rudy Guliani. The difference is Rudy has substantial successes to publicize...

I also like the Hannity and Colmes show, mainly *due* to its balance... (FOX *does* go out of its way to do that...)

Charles Rangel, while I don't necessarily agree with him, at least talks from fact and logic, as opposed to fantasy...

Al Franken is lucky to have Rush Limbaugh around... otherwise he'd have nothing to talk or write about...

Rosie... self-absorbed, self-righteous, self-destructive. Hides her weak arguments behind divisive humor... Rosie needs to go away and implode... privately...

LOL how true. The "right" news guys are her best advertisers. As far as news from one outlet I would never make that mistake . I believe it is up to each individual to educate themselves on current affairs with as many sources as possible. Even watching Oreilly. However, Stewart and Colbert are actually better news outlets and more entertaining..

Cannot stomach o'reilly and do not allow fox news to be on at my home. He is nothing but a big :censored: . He only has guts when he is hiding behind the camera. He acts like he lives a pure life :rofl3: . o'reilly suffers from the "little man" syndrome (about the size of my pinkie so says Rosie).

Today's news is focused on a bunch of crap to make ratings they will bleed a topic to death. Who cares about: Brittany Spears, Anna Nicole, so much that they are covered 24 hours and always in your home? Really, I do not know these people nor do I care. In my opinion both of them are screwed up and never should have been so-called "famous" anyway. Just two crack ho's.

To many brain cells and thoughts wasted on people that have no meaning in our lifes.

I try really hard to not feel that way about people "on the other side"...it takes work, but feeding that monster is not the answer. Looking for even one valid point, works for me. It is very dangerous to allow others to polarize you...as soon as you get on the "hate cycle" they have won.

One thing I do like about Bill, is that he often asks provacative questions no one else will ask, and I appreciate that.

I think the Anna Nicole story has some merit on family/human dynamics and legal issues, medical ethics.

My goal is to be able "to stomach" more and more points of view...maybe not agree but tolerate to the point of listening.

He does and I cant disagree with him when he takes prosecutors to task over light sentences for pedifiles especially the ones who are teachers and happen to be attractive.

I agree about not getting your news from just one source. I normally read a news story from 2 or 3 sources to get an idea of what really happened. I like Reuters, BBC, and then temper it with MSNBC ,CNN and Fox, and other sources like the Economist website etc. If you're really paying attention, it's not hard to figure out the source's slant. It would be nice to find an unbiased news source, but I think that only happens in our dreams.

I think O'Reilly is one of the funniest people on TV.

He is NOT funnier than David Caruso is on CST Miami! :eyebrow:
