Linda Sue Dingel:
Dear family and friends of Divers and Surfers,

It is with great regret that on behalf of the Dive N' Surf and Body Glove Family, we would like to inform you that this past Tuesday, July 25th, 2006 at about 5:15 am, Bill Sr., Co-owner of Dive N’ Surf Inc. and Co-Founder of Body Glove Int. passed away in his home from Parkinson’s Disease at age 77.

I spoke with his son Billy this morning who told me that at this time arrangements for a service, with a possible “Paddle/Dive Out” to include all of the Divers and Surfers are being discussed between family members. Tentative dates for such an event are being discussed for September or October plans. We will keep you informed of the details as they transpire. For further details on the history of Bill Meistrell and his life, please pick up a copy of either of the Local Papers released today: The Beach Reporter and Easy Reader.

In lieu of flowers, the family urges contributions in Bill Meistrell’s name be sent to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, or The SEA LAB located in Redondo Beach. Cards and Letters may be sent in c/o Bill Meistrell Family to the Dive N' Surf address listed below.

Please keep all of the family in your prayers during this most difficult time of sorrow.

Warmest Regards,

Linda Sue Dingel

I just heard the news from Linda Sue as well. We've lost another one of the true legends. My condolences to his family and friends.

Condolences to the family. Bill was a true waterman. One of the select few in both surfing and diving halls of fames. Here's the link on Surfline. More info on the BodyGlove site. There will be more details to come on the paddle out.
