Bula fellow Fiji lovers.

I recently returned to Fiji (I love that place) and stayed and dove at Wananavu Resort, located on the north end of Viti Levu island (ie the same island as Nadi - the international airport).

Wananavu recently opened their own on-site dive op, and it's a great one. My report reviews the new dive op, updates info on the resort, details how to get there, and I have also shared many images, both topside and underwater in the report, to highlight this beautiful location with wonderful diving.

I really hope this is helpful to other divers looking for a great Fiji dive location.

You will find the report hosted here - on my (non-profit) blog ----> Fiji 2013 ? Love, Actually | Awoosh.com

Questions and/or comments are welcome.

Wow you are awesome....A great trip report on one of my Bucket list trips......Thank you

We've been to Beqa, and to Wananavu, and a liveaboard. The liveaboard was the best diving, but Wananavu was better than Beqa. It's a great resort!

Yep, Wananavu is a great, laid back resort, but the diving in the past (with contract operations ie Ra and Kai Viti) was pretty bit hit and miss. The new onsite dive op Dive Wananavu Fiji (Chris & Vicky Liles have only been there a few months) is really excellent - great boats, crew, sites and very professionally managed. Nitrox available too...

Hey, thanks for the kind comment Cheese Lady :^) Get there - it is awesome!

How long were typical boat rides to the dive sites? I saw from your trip report that E6 was about an hour. I guess I had an impression that the boat rides from Wananavu to many of the better dive sites could be a bit long.

Thanks for the excellent trip report and great pics.

Hi Erwin,

Thanks for the kind words. Transit time to the great diving out in the Vatu-i-Ra waters is dependant on water/weather conditions, but if I recall correctly, the closer in sites (Wheat Field, Heartbreak Ridge etc) are at the most 35-45 minutes on a choppy day. E6 is quite a bit further than that - several miles - and I would say that about an hour is a good estimate. They would not go out to E6/Mount Mutiny in very rough conditions I think. The larger of the two boats is very quick - with twin 225s on there it really boogies. The smaller boat, with the single outboard is not quite a swift. The boat taken out will be decided by load I think.
