Holy-Bucketful-of-Ugly!

That's a friggin' huge Eel!

<FORRESTGUMPVOICE> "You can make Eel fritters, Eel barbeque, Eel steaks, Eel fillets, sauteed Eel, fried Eel, Eel Chowder, New England boiled Eel with potatoes, Jamaican Jerked Eel, Eel Sushi out the wazoo, Eel with eggs", ...etc. etc. etc.

LiteHedded:
how big are they normally?
that thing is ugly as all hell

Normally no longer than 175 cm / 5'7" but occasionally up to 3 metres/10ft....
-The English name is congre, so make a search if you like.

The cave I dived in Oahu was loaded with conger eels, some of which were that long. They were all blind and just kinda swam into you. They were not aggressive at all, although if you shot or stabbed one and didn't kill it, it would bite. The cave was also filled with herds of huge lobsters in the crevices so the eels were easy enough to ignore.

Wow! Is that the kind of eel they make Unagi sushi with? Oh wait, I think Unagi is fresh water eel. So, what does Conger eel taste like? Maybe they'll need a whole bucket of beer batter!

OMG, you killed it with a Eurogun!!! must be fake, spend enought time on this board and you're told euro guns can;t kill anything over 5lbs :D

Great Eel :D maybe make some Lutefisk? :D

Eels scare the hell out of me, I was snorkeling the cayman wall area near the stingray city, and an eel, probably 5 feet or so, swam out about 15 feet from his hole, and un-provoked bit a snorkeler in the arm, he had over 30 stitches, it was REALLY bad...

Since then, I stay as far away as possible from those things.

I heard a guy got run over by a car once too. better stay away from them.

I think you're mixing congres with murenes. Although I've heard congres can be a little agressive too, my little experience is that they flee. The one I've seen wasn't this big though.
