Ron and I hit the road at 6am and arrived at Blue Hole around 8am. Doug was already there, as were about 5-6 other divers. By the time we were unloaded and setup, a couple of dive groups with students had showed up, but they were small (10-15 divers max). It was sunny as the weather report had said, but windy! Air temp was 30s-40s and with the wind it felt it! Brrrr..

Since I hadn't been in the water since I got my reg serviced, this weekend seemed perfect. I had also bought a new mask and booties to try out. Doug was trying out his new drysuit and got in the water about 5 minutes before us. The students weren't in the water yet, so vis was decent and the dive went well. Doug actually looked good in the water except for some issues with his new fins. I had problems clearing all the way down and felt a squeeze in my sinuses, so I knew this would be my only dive. Total bottom time was 46 minutes for us.

I don't know if it was the wind blowing dust around, or the weather in general, but my sinuses were toast for the day. I got changed into dry clothes, grabbed a box of klennex out of the truck, while Ron and Doug went in for a second dive. By that time, more divers and another dive group with students had showed up. We finished up and left around noon, a few minutes after Doug. Weather had warmed quite a bit but that darned wind... ugggh.

So... my reg was fine, no more issues with it. Love the new booties but not sure about the mask. I think Doug is going to love the drysuit once he gets used to it. Not sure he will like those fins though. I only took a few pictures.

Thanks for not taking any under-water photos of me!

I ate a good chunk of good old humble pie (lousy trim and a silt trail worthy of any new student) in my new-to-me dry suit. It came with some oms slipstreams...those boards are a lot to handle.

Anyone want a good deal on some slip-streams with 2 dives in fresh water?

Seriously, weather wise is was a perfect day and nice compensation for this weeks forecast.

Doug, you really looked fine underwater with the exception of those fins!
I know my first time diving a drysuit I probably looked crazy stupid! I remember being afraid to get away from the line and in fact I think I swam around the bottom for a few minutes then held the line all the way up for the rest of the dive. Really took me several dives to get even somewhat comfortable in it!

Those fins you used ... they are a bit of overkill for BH.

What size are the Slipstreams? How much? I have a pair and I love them, especially for traveling (airlines). They weigh about 1/2 of what Jet's or Turtle's weight. That can be a problem if you are feet light in a dry suit though.

They are XXL.

I have to figure out what to do first, my other fins are big enough (barely) but are set up with spring straps that are too short for the rock boots.
