I went on a diving trip with Baani about 6 months ago - in one word "Lousy"!
I was on the Baani Adventurer. Safety is a word they use all the time but never practice. The guides are inexperienced, they use temps, the whole trip the guides would dampen eveyone's spirits by threatening not to go to ari atoll (even though everyone was fine with it) saying things like - no whale shark, no mantas, no good diving sites (cos 95% of the best diving in in south ari). The guide is always trying to be a smart ass by making sacarstic remarks (esp to the 2 dive instructors who were holidaying on the trip). While underwater the guide would just disappear and not look out for the group (on a number of occasions the guide lost the group for most part of the dive!!), in fact, the guide was pretty much like another scuba diver in the group - no spotting of fishes (which is fine), no looking out for other divers (especially the weaker ones), negative entry and he's away (leaving the rest in his wake). And he's always the first one out of the dive. All in all a very poor experience. We have experienced other maldivian boats before and they were vastly different. I would avoid Baani if I were you.
