We love Akumal for the condo rentals (on halfmoon bay), un-crowded beaches and un-crowded dive boats, the dive shop options, ease of snorkelling, ease of access from Cancun ( 1hour drive or transfer) nice restaurants and the overall laid back vibe.

I completely agree about Half Moon Bay. We stay at Playa Caribe which is a short stroll from Akumal Dive Adventures and La Bueno Vida. Akumal Dive Adventures stores our gear and treat us like royalty. We have dove with them so often Mario usually says, "so, where you want to dive today?"
