I can get a Liquivision Kaon for $650 using my rewards points what about that? I've noticed the price on Petrel 2 is going up too.

It that's in your budget, and the Petrel isn't in reach, it seems to be an option.

seeing it runs Bühlmann ZH-L16C1, with optional Gradient Factors, it isn't some bastardized wacky algorithm....

batteries are user changeable, though not "off the shelf typical"...

It does 3 gasses (in tech) and can be a bottom timer (do you need these, and is the "tech" an upgrade cost)?

don't like that download software is sold separately (proprietary expensive cable?)...

I have had bad experiences with "tap" interfaces in cold water with thick gloves...

I do like the bungie mounts (one thing I do not like about the pertel)

just some quick thoughts..... never used one, or even seen one.

Buy used...buy shearwater.

I'm looking to buy a computer that DRiS carries because I have $100 in rewards points, that's why I'm looking at the Kaon even though it's the same price as the Petrel. I don't anticipate going Trimix but would it be worth the extra $50 to get the Xeo just in case?

So go buy the computer you have your $500 for . . . and then in a couple of years, be kicking the ever-lovin' snot out of yourself for taking the shortcut.

Christ, there are more than enough threads on this board that point over and over to the Predator or Petrel. You can easily get a used Predator for $600, and now I am seeing used Petrel 1's come down because some moron is jonesing for a Petrel 2.

So, just buy your cheap computer because you won't come off the jack, but just know for damn sure that if you get a Predator or Petrel, you will *never* find yourself in the "I wish I would have . . . " mode.

I just placed my order for a Dive Rite Nitek Q. Thanks for helping me decide Jax.

Wait for euro to drop and buy ostc sport?

I'll second this recommendation. HW are a great company. Although I read recently that they won't sell to the U.S.? They did sell to me in Japan a few years ago though.

Sorry didn't read the whole thread before posting. I hope the Nitek works out for you.
