Anyone know the best way to cut and restitch 2" resin reinforced webbing? Will a tailor's sewing machine be able to restitch this? Any ideas?

A shoemaker can sew it for you just fine.

Thanks! I never thought of a shoemaker... I'll take it in tomorrow.

My local shoemaker's got a lot of experience with dive gear now. He keeps threatening to take the class.:D

Cut it with a knife that has been heated with a propane torch. Or, you can cut it with good shears and cauterize it with a good lighter.

If you cangt get a shoemaker to play, or if you don't want to bother with a boat canvas or awning shop, stitching strap by hand is pretty simple, basicaly a crafts project item. The proper heavy synthetic thread and needle, if you want to use a palm pusher glove or just mash it through with pliers, it's not all that hard.

Optimium strength is acheived at the stitching of three parallel rows that span a length of strap equivelant to the overall width of the strap.
