What would be the best choice of a tank for diving singles with nitrox. The diving is usually done with a wet suit in depths of 80 to 115 wreck dives. Steel or alum, LP or Hp. Main isue is being able to get in the full no deco time. I realize alot more variables are involved in the decision and alot of it is just prefernces, but just curios what other dives use in thier choices.
Started diving with A80's like everyone alse and now own a HP100. Looking to purchase more tanks, posibly doubles later this year. :eyebrow:

Well, it depends on what your consumtion rate is. For dives over 100 ft, I usually like to use doubles (OMS/Faber 112's), but for dives up to 100 ft, if I am diving singles, I usually use PST E7-100's. Thats enough gas for me, for NDL's. If you are looking at getting a set of doubles, that solves the issue.

I like my 112s for single tank diving, although it's hard to beat a set of double 80s for all-around utility since if all else fails, you can split them up and use the manifold for something else. :icosm14:

Why not rent a few options and see how they suit you? I know Divers Unlimited in Norfolk has 125s in their rental fleet and they can probably borrow 131s and 112s to rent you.

Air consumption is the critical factor. It's a little counter intuitive but if you are staying within the NDL's at 80-115 feet, a huge tank is not always needed as the NDL's get shorter a lot faster than the air consumption increases at depth. When doing single tank no deco rec dives in the 100-120 ft range. I am usually back on the boat with around 1100 psi left in a steel 72. So unless your air consumption is on the high side, an AL 80 is enough to do the job.

AL 80's and steel 72's are relatively inexpensive and work well when doubled up even with a wet suit.
