Hi,
Might want to look at the poseidon besea too, only bc i know of thats designed for long hikes. (althought the transpac also has decent support)

BP/W gives more pain on the shoulder becaseu two 2inch webbings on the shoulder have to handles all back loads...
They aren't so different from the straps on my old frame pack, and that was comfortable enough for all-day hiking. With a 7mm wetsuit on underneath it, you probably won't even feel the straps (let alone need extra padding on them). Just to reiterate what others have said, I've done a nasty boulder climbing entry in both a BP/W and jacket, and while it was do-able in either, I had the same experience with the jacket... the tank just isn't as stable. I'm much happier doing it in a hog harness.

As for which plate to look at, I think you'll find both DiveRite and Halcyon plates are needlessly overpriced. If you're willing to pay for a brand name, both are good. If not, I'd go with DSS, Hammerhead (great deal on a plate and STA combo), FredT (if you can find one... I understand Katrina put him out of production for a while), OxyCheq, or any plate of good quality that you get a deal on. For wings, I'd look at Halcyon and OxyCheq. I'd definately go with a hogarthian harness.

Looks interesting but limited support here in Canada? Are there any on-line dealers that you know of?

When i used to live in Wellington -New Zealand, i did lots and lots of shore divings. I was using a dryssuit and Seaquest Black Diamond. In certain sites i had to hike a small hill as well. i was carrying Faber 123 cuft single tank and 11kgs of weight. The Black diamond is still in perfect condition until now. I really recommend using the Black Diamond.
