I've ordered the HyperWhistle and the Fox 40 Sonik Blast CMG. I'll do some tests/comparisons when I have both. The Hyper claims 142db and the Fox 40 120db.

The Fox 40 gets one point for coolest name....

The HyperWhistle claims to work underwater and I'm curious about how useful that might be. From a quick search it appears that if you can generate a loud enough sound it will travel further in water than in air. If a whistle works underwater, maybe it could be a useful emergency signal with the understanding that someone would listen underwater in case of a lost diver. Maybe the reduced wind/wave noise below the surface would result in more effective signal distance.

I remember a post from Wookie a while back in which he stated that a whistle was quite useless for rescue. Any comments Frank? @Wookie

I had thought about suggesting the Glock because they also work UNDER water, but then someone would probably use one under water and I would get sued because they hit someone or a piece of coral or a poor innocent fish, etc.. THEREFORE, I am NOT mentioning the use of a Glock.

Whistle appears to be sold out. Where did you order from?

I found the manufacturer and gave them a call. They're confused about the status on Amazon as they sent a shipment to them recently.

I spoke with the wife of the inventor. Their main company produces electronic acoustic signaling devices like this:

I wonder if they make a submersible version.

The whistle is a side project. Good news is that I might get some free samples for my efforts.
