As with everyone else 7mm or dry is the way to go for San Diego. I wear a 7mm semi-dry, mostly because a dry suit is waaay above my price range, and I am happy in all but the "winter" months. Generally I can only do one dive days from about mid December through early March. I am a cold wus though. During the other months my 7mm is just right.
