THank you...We went to Cozumel which was perfect for snorkeling and the Dos Ojos Cenote which was interesting for the experience not so much the fish. When we were enetring Yal Ku lagoon, 2 snorkelers were leaving who had been bitten by fish there. I snorkeled the whole lagoon but I didnt see much of anything.
 
Did you see the turtles at Akumal? I agree, Yal-Ku is nothing to get excited about. Some fish and murky water. I would guess the snorkelers were bitten by sergeant majors. I remember they were very common there, and if they are used to people feeding them, they can be very aggressive.
 
very unfortunately I never got to Akumal beach..I only had 3 full days...and the day that I went to Yal Ku lI planned to do Akumal beach/reef but it ooked like a thunderstorm was setting in to the area so we left:-(
I was really lucky to have received replies from you and otherscuba people who helped me decide to do Cozumel beaches, Dos Ojos cenote and Tulum which were fantastic.
