Best spots to dive in So Cal

I am planing to take a week long vacation to the LA area, and I am wondering what are the best spots to hit. I will have transport, so I can hit spots further away from LA as well. Also, if anyone can recomend a dive shop to go through, I would appreciate it.

California Diving News - Dive Stores - Search

There are hundreds of sites within 100 miles of Los Angeles. If you are looking for boat dives, there are trips to the Northern Channel Islands from Santa Barbara or Ventura, Palos Verdes sites from boats in Marina del Rey, Redondo Beach and Los Angeles Harbor. For Catalina and the southern Channel Islands, boats leave from L.A. Harbor, Long Beach and San Diego. For a day trip to Catalina where you could dive the Casino Point Underwater Park, Catalina Express has terminals in San Pedro, Long Beach and Dana Point. The Riviera dive boat in Dana Point will take you to Orange County dive sites.
There is also shore diving all along the coastline between Santa Barbara and San Diego.
