Ended up getting a Trident adapter. Poseidon had 5 threads and Trident had 7 threads. Also the build quality of the trident was equal or better. I guess I will give the Trident a try and might see if any local shops have a ScubaPro adapter on hand in the next few months that I can compare. If it seems that much better I might just pick up a ScubaPro adapter. I just need one for next week and don't want to worry about a ScubaPro adapter arriving in time or having to try and hunt one down.

It looks like you've got something that works. This past weekend a local shop sponsored a used dive gear sale. Some techie guys were selling off a bunch of their "spare" parts. I picked up 2 Scubapro DIN-to-yoke adapters for $5 each (one is composed of aluminum...and quite light). If I were you, I wouldn't spend the $70+ on a new adapter that would only be used once in a blue moon. Save that money for tank fills! On the other hand, for $5... :) Keep your eyes open for sales like this.

Have fun diving.

I have an oceanic DIN to yoke adapter that has worked very well. A very simple design, nothing to go wrong with it.

This DiveRite thing worries me. I'm heading to Cancun in a couple of days, and I have a DiveRite Hurricane reg with DIN. I also have the DiveRite DIN to yoke adapter. I haven't used it yet, as for local dives, my LDS has those valves on their tanks that convert from yoke to DIN by removing the insert so I had no problems. The adapter does have seven or eight threads, so is that good?

@Lenmonster: I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. The issue I had with the DR adapter was restricted to one type of Sherwood tank valve that, as far as I know, went out of production a couple decades ago. Even with those valves, you could still make the adapter work -- it just took some patience. Relax and enjoy your vacation. With a little luck, you won't even need to use the adapter. Those Thermopro convertible tank valves (DIN with yoke insert) are becoming more and more common nowadays. If you plan to dive Cozumel, I have heard that Aldora Divers is a dive op that can provide HP120 steel tanks. I'm sure you would be able to use your DIN reg directly on their tanks. I've also heard that they have small boats (6 divers max) and require a dive computer to help extend bottom times. When I was in Coz 3 yrs. ago, I dove with the Blue Angel dive shop (at the time, AL80 tanks only). Solid, friendly service. Have a great time on the Yucatan Peninsula. Dive safe.

one thing to think about with reference to "all these different brands".

The market for spin on yoke/din convertors isn't that great that there are 10 or 15 seperate manufacturers making them.

Most of these companies/manufacturers referenced above prob all use the same one, two or three OEM manufacturers to make these. So there really can't be that many different version/models of these things out there.
