Hello - planning a trip to Thailand for our Honeymoon in early June. We're looking to stay on an island for ~7 days and do some day trip dives. Any recommendations on the best island to visit in Thailand in June?

The best diving in Thailand is Similan but June is off season. Thailand diving in June is on Koh Tao side and nothing great. It's not the best time for Maldives or Philippines either.

But Borneo is in peak conditions in June. How about Kota Belud and/or Sipadan, maybe even Sangalaki? KB & Sipadan are very easy to get to, just a direct flight from KL. Sangalaki is direct flight or ferry to Sipadan.

As mentioned above by dumpsterpurrs the Similan & Surin Islands are the better spots to dive, but the season is closed at the time you wish to travel. I would recommend Koh Samui if you wanted an Island at that time. It has some very nice resorts like the Intercontinental Hotel which has beautiful sunsets up on the hill overlooking the ocean. Very romantic if you're on your honeymoon. There is a speed boat that can go out to Koh Tao each day. Long trip, maybe bumpy, but two dives with lunch, best dive sites around. Or cheaper option is to stay on Koh Tao itself. You would have to fly into Koh Samui then ferry out. You could do both, start on Koh Tao & finish on Koh Samui for a few nights. Hope that helps.

I will go to Koh Samui at the end of next week for the first time. Was told nothing but praises. I have already planned dives in Koh Tao, Sail Rock, Chumporn pinnacles and Marine Park. I can’t wait.

What is the reason to stay on Koh Samui and dive Koh Tao. The diving rate is a lot more expensive and the travelling is a lot longer.
What is the attraction in Koh Samui? Stay there once for three days and was absolutely BORED stiffness.

I do not think U2 would be interested on a LoB as part of the Honeymoon.
U2 wanted somewhere to be pampered so Phuket is my suggestion.
Just make sure U2 are staying near to Chalong Beach for the daily departure of the day trip.

I am pretty sure the trip will be a memorable one.

The dive shop is in Koh Samui and my friend knows the owner. All I am there for is to dive with a friend. Rent a boat for 6 days, sail and dive around. The third day will be Songkran and I could not care less. Done Songkran several times already. Good food, good booze (avec modération 😅), good cigars on board and a satellite connection is all I need on top of that.

Any idea if it is long to register a drone for use in Thailand? I have a DJI mini 2 (less than 250g), specifically to avoid too much trouble to use it in many countries.

Not that difficult to get a proper answer from the authority than coming here!

ok. Thanks. So I won’t use my drone in Thailand. What a pity!
