If anyone is selling an Al 80 for less than $150 they are selling it for a loss. The ones at Bill Jacksons ( I bought one) are new but around a year old. Just as good as one right off the line. As long as they have just had a storage fill and kept in a controlled enviroment they don't age. The number of fills or "cycles" is what ages a tank. Obviously if you keep them outside or abuse them they will age quicker.

These tanks ranged from 2-4 years old from a dive charter. Local pickup, fill and go. Can't complain unless you don't like the color of them (white). I think he sold out of them.

Thanks git-r-dun diver -- I took your advice and dropped by SCUBA Quest on the way home from work...early because I'm sick as a dog (hope I'm better before Saturday...'cause these tanks need to be wet!!!). I bought two tanks each for me and Chad; two yellow and two blue...and I reckon the youngster gets to chose his color first. The kid working there threw in tank boots and valve covers and, of course, tanks were VIP'ed and filled. $149 apiece.
J.R., They still had two of the brushed aluminum looking AL80s on the floor if that price works for you...might just remind them that they threw in boots/covers for me.

Good I'm glad it worked out for you. Shawn is the "kid" behind the counter. He is a great guy and always treats me right. He is the manager. If you want to get those tank wet I am diving down in south Venice at the Red Rocks on Saturday with the wife. You are welcome to join us. I have a thread on it somewhere on here.

Thanks for the Red Rocks invite. I told my son about you heading to Red Rocks and Mote Man to Venice Beach for shark teeth. His only question was -- "what's the vis, dad?" He did a very low vis dive on the Sugar Barge (he didn't call the dive...but has no interest in going back there) and a couple weekends ago a little better but still low viz dive on Venice Beach (shark teeth and great company made up for the vis for sure). I know you can't predict the future but what do you expect?

I'm a wee bit overprotective of him...and made him hold onto my arm on both dives. Bad daddy.

I don't know what the viz is going to be but it is only 17 ft deep. On top of the reef it is only like 8 or 10. I understand the overprotectiveness. When my wife and I dive together we hold hands the entire time. You might want to think about a buddy line. I'm thinking of making one up for us.
