I have 2 daughters, 13 and 15, and want to get them PADI-certified when we are there in early February (soon!). It's our first time to Fiji and we have 8 days, so the ideal place would:

- of course have great diving (as my wife and I would like to do 2 dives a day while the girls are learning)
- have good snorkeling right near the hotel / bure (as my wife would snorkel multiple times a day if possible)
- have great instructor(s) with experience in teaching kids. (the 15 year-old is psyched, the 13-year-old currently a little anxious, given unpleasant memories of snorkeling with leaky masks)
- be an interesting place when we're not in the water, somewhere that gives us a real sense of Fiji
- be pretty accessible from Nadi, so we're not spending too much time traveling

Since we only have 8 days total in Fiji, on way to Australia, and have never experienced Fiji before, I am wondering if heading to the Beqa Lagoon is the best way to combine great diving with experiencing Fiji, or if folks would recommend a different path.

Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with any of the dive shops / resorts in the Beqa area training younger divers?

Thanks in advance!

I would look at the Cousteau Resort in Savusavu. They have a big kids program. I know your kids are older than that, but it has a real family orientation. It's a flight from Nadi but several a day so easy connection.
