I have a Sherwood Magnum EX - MA15 It does good When I remember to trim right below my nose once it seals. But it may take 5 or more clears to get it to do so. I did my first saltwater dive this weekend to the Sherman wreck off of SC. It was great:D But I had to clear my mask a lot till I got it to seal. Is there a mask that does better than others with a mustache?

I'll have to check the actual model name of the one my LDS recommended for my hairy face. He said it sealed better with a mustache than most others. I'll look when I get home and add more details.

Yeah I need to know what it is too. I have the very same problem. After about 5 dives it finally seals. A major pain but i am not shaving it all off. LOL

I have the same problem and tried a lot of masks. I took a lot of advise but what worked for some did not work for me so in the end mustache or not any recommendation may or may not work. Sometimes just shaving a bit of the top to give the mask a place to seal will help. For the record the only mask that works for me is the low profile Halcyon mask and only with the velcro slap strap. The standard slap strap makes it leak. Good luck in your quest.

My first mask was a Tusa Liberator that leaked. I got a jar of clear silicone grease and rubed it in my mustache and that stopped the leaking. I had a Tusa Splendive until it wore out and now I use a Mares X-Vision Liquid Skin. Neither one of them leak.

What I have is the Tusa Imprex 3D. I was getting some leakage during our OW class, but I think that was due to the whiskers on my cheek. We're probably heading to the Y tonight for some laps in the pool, so I'll see how trimming the beard line down the cheek a bit does for that, and report back.

I recently bought an Atomic Frameless and it works great for me! But I'm sure some of that has to do with the over all fit on my particular face. Comes a regular and "medium" fit, whatever that means (I'm not sure which is smaller, regular or medium). Atomic Aquatics Scuba Masks Cost me about $100, though, but it's a great mask.

You can also try a little mustache wax! It seemed to help some with my old mask, but it would wash away before the end of the dive. It also added a lemony scent to my dive! :eyebrow:
