Hey Guys:
I'm going with a buddy next weekend for 4 days on Grand Cayman. I'm a big diver and he dives but isn't as rabid as me. Anyway, he's turning 30 so it's going to be a mix of diving and obviously some beach time, drinks, etc. I think we'll only have time to dive Friday/Saturday, so I'm kind of looking for a compromise type spot with good night life, and as good of diving as I can get.

I've only been to the Brac (great trip) so I don't know much about Grand Cayman. Is 7MB the only real night life type spot on the island? From what I've read the East End diving is the best but I assume the night life there would be minimal? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!!

To me, it sounds like you need to stay on 7 Mile Beach. That's the only area offering a reasonable facsimile of night life.

Add another vote for SMB. The East End, North Side and Rum Point area are great, relaxing places to stay, but you'll find precious little nightlife.

There's a place you can drive to on 7 mile beach that has some night life, (live music on the beach) the Reef Grill.
Other places to visit (we were on the Island last week) are:

Great stuff guys, I really appreciate it! I think we're gonna stay at the Marriott Beach Resort on SMB. Thinking of diving with Cayman Marine Lab. The Reef Grill sounds great, we'll be sure and check it out. Thanks again.

When you get to the Reef Grill, try the sea bass. It is heavenly, and they told me it is farm raised so it is hopefully a sustainable fish.

Just came back from a week and a half in Grand Cayman. Diving was awesome on east end, but there really isn't much of a nightlife. Seven Mile Beach and Georgetown on the west end is where the action is and what it seems like you are looking for. Have a great time!

Here's the place for music on the weekends and a nice beach bar as well.
The Reef Grill.
