absolutely drop dead gorgeous... we were lucky.... heard they had lots of cloud and even had BOX JELLIES (with special instructions on how to exit if they were present when you exited the water) the week before... first day was cloudy, ever other day was traditional drop dead breezy (dry) warm weather. highlight of the trip was the NO DIVING day trip to the DONKEY SANCTUARY (those little buggars are persistant!) and a drive around the southern edge with a stop over in Sorobon for some kite boarding (and a tad of topless bathers) watching

Glad to hear you had a good trip. 10 folks can definately be a lot to coordinate. I'm going on two consecutive trips (2 full weeks, the trips overlap by one day) this September to Bonaire. The first week will be with 10 peeps at Plaza, and the second week will be with 11 others at Bel-Mar (my preference). I usually do all shore dives, as I've never been more impressed with the boat dives over the shore dive sites. This will be my first time staying at Plaza, which includes one boat dive a day, so maybe my oppinion will change.

Karpata is an excellent dive. I always see large numbers of cuddle fish there (in the sandy area before the reef). If you drive north of there and after you exit the reserve, you are at my favorite Bonaire dive, BOPEC. Word is this site may be off limits now, but I haven't confirmed this (I hope not).

So looking forward to September...

to 'help' on the coordination - tell your folks to throw away the brochure descriptions and go to this website instead.... i just found it.... wish i had seen it BEFORE the trip.... the pics are breathtaking, the rating are real people

Seems like a cool site. There's a small book on shore diving only sold in Bonaire that I recommend. Unfortunately my last copy was never returned after being lent out, so I don't know the name right now. It sorta a small handbook more then an actual book, and is written by a lady who lives on the island. I think I bought the book at WannaDive dive shop (next to the cybercafe/bar and WannaBurger).

schweet..... i'll have to check into it.... we got such a good deal this time it's was cheaper per dive (and we only did 3 a day) to fly to Bonaire than to go to the Keys.... (i live in freakin' tampa!!!!) that it looks like almost an annual thing....

oh yea, brought back a TIRE BIRD from the cyberCafe for my mom as a souvenir.... she wanted a handbag.... haha - if you know the TIRE BIRD you'll get the joke...
