In the past I stayed at Captain Don's on two trips, and I am planning to go back to Bonaire in mid-July. Is there a better house reef or resort in Bonaire than Captain Don's?

I thoroughly enjoyed the freedom and ease of diving at Captain Don's (and loved the pizzia), yet I am not sure there isn't something even better. Any suggestions?

I also have dove Cap. Don's and think it is the best house reef. I've stayed at the Divi before which I think is a bit nicer location for walking into town or walking on down to the Plaza for a beach, but Cap Don's is still the best house reef IMHO

I thought Cliff at Capt. Don's was one of the better dives we did on Bonaire, but probably the "best" house reef is Bari Reef off Bonaire Dive & Adventure's dock between Sand Dollar and Den Laman condos. It's been named the most diverse reef in the Caribbean by REEF with several hundred known species of fish.

Den Laman is supposed to be pretty nice also, they were building it when we were there last time. Not sure about their diving but the "best" resort on Bonaire is Harbour Village.

Buddy Dive reef and Bari.

According to Project REEF, ( www.reef.org ) Bari reef has had the most species identified on it of any dive site in the Caribbean. Of course many are small and it probably is skewed a bit because so many serious fish ID'ers regularly dive Bari, but still I have never had a bad dive on the 40 + times we have dove these adjacent sites.

I have never had a bad dive in Bonaire so to me they are all good!:D

There is no such thing as the best house reef... but if you want something a little different, yet similiar....stay at Buddy's....this way you can easily have the Rum Runners Pizza, say hi to the Capt. D's crew, but now if you do any shore diving off of the resort you have their awesome drive thru station which I think is the best setup on the island.

You will also be exposed to a little more of Buddy's house reef..which going south should be a little different for you.

My vote is for Buddy Dive. It's easy to dive Capt. Don's from Buddy's, plus as Jep said, you can go south as well.
