I have dived all over the Red Sea for many years and am like to visit by myself for a full diving holiday. I want a hotel with a well run dive centre that has a brilliant house reef with lots to see and the chance of finding a buddy - additionally boat trip options. Last year I went to Brayka Bay and it would be hard to beat that, but am open to suggestions. Have spent many happy times in Dahab, not a huge fan of Sharm and nothing against some of the bays surrounding Hurghada.

Don't limit yourself to Egypt, Saudi Arabia has some interesting options.

Have a look at:
- The Breakers in Soma Bay with ORCA Dive Club: lively hotel with great staff and management; Dive shop with plenty of options for house reef, boat trips to iconic spots.
- Red Sea Diving Safari Marsa Shagra or Marsa Nakari: The Sleep-Eat-Dive-Repeat resorts. Some call it basic, others call it focused. With real unlimited house reef diving (up to 5 dives or more per day, if you can cope with), great crew, top service, great food....

As a single lady I think I will pass for now, although the reefs do look amazing
My daughter travels there frequently for work, the country has changed a lot over the past six or so years. I spent 11 years in the kingdom before moving to the UAE, and had a pretty adventurous time there with no regrets despite the restrictions during the late 80s and 90s.

up north only, house reefs in jeddah are few and not very good. In the new luxury hotels built north you will get what your looking for; be ready for a heahfty bill though.

I just had an awesome two week solo trip. I spent a week on Emperor Seven Seas liveaboard and then another week at their Wadi Sabarah lodge South of Port Ghalib. On a previous trip my hubby and I booked a private guide at Wadi S, this is not expensive and a really good option solving the buddy issue. Wadi S is incredibly beautiful and very quiet, so not for everybody. There is an onsite Emperor dive shop, which is really good.

I dived with Orca in Soma a few years ago, the house reef was pretty good and the place seemed well run. I have a vague memory that it was wind/current limited on the reef at times, but I could be wrong. Will check the Breakers out. Not sure my ears can handle 5 a day any more but the Safari place is interesting. Thanks.
