Best fins to get?

What are the best fins?
I heared about the Mares Quattro Excel and the AquaLung SlingShot.

Which is good?

Depends on of few things. If you want to travel a lot with them, you might wanna look into their weight. If you like the pivoting idea of the Aqualung the Quattro Excel isn't really comparable. Either the Volo Race or the X-Streams (which I have) might be a good call. For example, the X-Streams are pretty lightweight, which is good when you travel a lot.

I also heard great things about the Apollo Bio-Fin Pro XT, but they are really heavy and expensive.

Fins (and masks) are a very personal choice however, and what one divers loves, another might hate....

Best is a matter of opinion. I like Jet Fins. I don't like spring straps. While some fins are heavier than others, no fin is too heavy for traveling (even with spring straps).

This is a recurrent topic already discussed to death. Try with the search function. (If I correctly remember, the consensus was split between Scubapro Jet fins and Force fins, depending on what kind of diving you do and how prone to cramps you are)

They are heavy though, not great for travel. I also love the ScubaPro Seawing Nova's, very light with great performance.

Semi-scientific survey:

I had a couple of dives in June with the Master Diver class from Wright State University. We did these dives in Jupiter, FL. The class was about a dozen divers between the ages of 20 and 30. Their university owned the gear, and it was "pick out what you want".

From the available fins, the young guys selected slingshot fins. I asked the young men next to me if the fins were any good, and they liked them. "Real good" was the response.

They are heavy though, not great for travel. I also love the ScubaPro Seawing Nova's, very light with great performance.

At most they are maybe 1/2-to-1lb heavier than anything else. Yes, at some point that pound might make a difference when travelling, but to completely rule them out as "not great for travelling" is a bit silly.

I travel extensively with jet fins and never have had any point in time said or heard anyone else say "holy cow, what's in there" when picking up my gear bag.

It's not like they weigh 22lbs!

So I pack fewer clothes and buy some T-shirts at my destination, leave the tooth paste and tooth brush at home. They sell those everywhere. I'll take my Jets.
