Serious? About the fins or the feet flatening?

Full foot fins ARE a more efficient design. The fact that there are so many full foot semi-toys does not change that reality. What do deep water free divers use? Open heel fins have practical benefits, including easy use of boots for warmth or walking on difficult surfaces, and ease of removal, but for sheer in-water efficiency they are not as good as equivalent full foot pocket fins. Most divers are never exposed to anything other than open heel fins. Too bad.

He likes to dive without boots... crazy! Works with Force FIns but not with anything else

there is nothing wrong with diving w/o boots, I love to do it myself whenever possible. Unforetunately that water around here is just too cold to make that a reality. Even in Hawaii is wasn't a good idea, as hiking 200 yards to the beach with gear on, onto volcanic lava tubes and other sharp stuff it was a bad idea, not to mention the water out there averaged about 76-77F which was just a little too cold for me.

My son has an extremely high instep and wide feet. I purchased him some split fins but they dont fit well. We do mostly warm water diving. Can someone advise. I love Force Fins but he doesn't care for them. Any suggestions???

Thanks

Have him try a pair of Force Fins. Might not work for him but worth the try, in my opinion ...

I wear size 14 wide shoes (or as my dad used to call them, gunboats). I had a hard time finding fins as well. I own an older set of SP Veloce open heels in XL, Tusa X-pert Zoom open heels in XL, and SP Jets in XXL. I can wear them with my 3mm soled booties. They are all very comfortable. Hope this helps!
