best dive shop in miami?

i need to get certified in open water. can anyone recommend a shop?

Not Miami but Kevin at Underwater Explorers in Boynton Beach is worth the drive. That is who we did our checkout dives with. He will probably take you over to Herron Bridge for a shore dive as part of the process which is about as good as it gets for a training location. You will also get a boat dive in allowing you to experience more pre-dive conditions. He will also teach you personally and it is more of a one-on-one process.

I haven't taken lessons with Kevin, but I did dive with him last Tuesday. I had a great time, and he seems like an overall great guy and very competent in the water. I personally would have no reservations training with Kevin, and I can definitely recommend his operation for diving in the area.
