Hey guys just a few questions. In May of 2008 my girlfriend and I are trying to plan a trip to the Bahamas for both a good vacation and for the great diving. Im planning on diving with Stuart Cove Diving. Basically I kinda want to know where you all have stayed and what kind of rates you got we were thinking of Atlantis, but at 365 a night wow little pricey. I also dont want some roach motel that is not located close to everything. any comments would be great on where to stay and were to dive thank you

How about a live a board? I think my son and I are going to do a Blackbeard cruise seems like a good value.
Sorry no other advice on places to stay.

hmmmm how much can you do a liveaboard for and do they do shark dives

I have the Morning Star (Blackbeard's) booked for May 24th out of Freeport. It's around $1100 all inclusive with taxes, fees and surcharges. We will do a shark feed at Bull Run on tuesday, and about 20 dives during the week. Up close and personal with the sharks. If you're interested, PM me and I'll send you a brochure. There will be 2 DM's plus the crew if you want someone to tag along with you, or you can go out on your own. No time limits.

Blackbeards is $899, 20-25 dives per week, yes for shark dive. No luxuries, it has been compared to camping at see. If you do it knowing that and expecting nothing else you will have a ball. It's all about the diving and the diving is great.

I am also thining about the blackbeard liveaboard, for my graduation present :) This coming summer. Sounds like an awesome deal!

You can do 2-3 Blacbeard cruises for the price of one standard/luxury liveaboard. I'll be going on my second one in late October.

It's $899 this year, plus fees, taxes and surcharges......About $1100 with all those. BTW, May 24 is Memorial day week, so holiday time. I didn't find it near as much camping at sea I camp primitive without air, water etc. The a/c like to froze my tush off the first night.

If you're still considering Nassau, most of the properties along Cable Beach are nice. The Wyndham was nice but it's older, it's been there since the first time I was there in the mid-80's.

The only bad thing I've read about any of the chain resorts is that people have said the Holiday Inn AI (Sunspree) on Paradise Island is dirty and could use some upgrading.

Stuart Cove's runs twice daily shuttles to Paradise Island, Cable Beach and elsewhere so stay where it's convenient. They're on the south end of New Providence so expect a 1/2hr-45min shuttle ride each way. More with traffic when the cruiseships are in - pretty much daily....

Another closer option is Bahama Divers, they're at the base of the bridge to Paradise Island. Typically they run less crowded trips but I'm not sure if they do shark dives.
