If you take out the battery you need to re-set the date.
Yeap, that's another PITA with these cameras. They don't hold the time/date without the battery. No time and you loose track of what happened when/where if you dive more than once.

Is it hard to find red filters for this type of camera.

Yes and no. There are no filters that fit out of the box. They are all made for the square GoPro housing. But it's simple to grind away one side of the square pressure fitting and it then fits perfectly. I got mine from Amazon.

Dave Porter was a local ( SoCal) diver who single handed created a new industry -- high impact plastic protective cases --- the famous "Pelican Case." the initial acceptance was slow - now Pelican is a multimillion dollar international business.

When Dave ran the business it was possible to visit the SoCal factory and obtain cosmetic seconds at a fraction of the retail cost.

I recently checked on the current pricing - even though I still have an in at the factory - the pricing is prohibited for out intended usage.

I checked around and discovered similar cases at Harbor Freight ( aka Disposable tool company) at a fraction of the cost of a similar Pelican case

FYI

Harbor Freight

When you power it on it goes to what you selected. Press the left button repeatedly to cycle through the menu. when you get the the icon of a camera don't press for a few seconds. Then press the left button till you get to the gear icon and press the right button. Yhat gives you a screen to set all the video and picture settings. Right button is choose/enter left button cycles through the menu items.

Didn't it come with amanual. Mine did. Also download it here: Download Service CX GOLD - ACTIVEON

Thanks Kharon,

Yes, it came with a manual but I was unable to find the instructions for that setting; I was probably searching the wrong term. I thought I should ask before abandoning all hope.

Never abandon hope. Someone always has the answer. Page 6 of the manual gives a graphical of the entire layout. It might be good to print it and then practice going through each of the menus while following on the graphic page just to make sure you can get through to every choice/part of the menu system.

I admit that after page 7 the instructions seem to give me a headache. I could only figure them out by following on the graphic page. To tell the truth, I don't think you really need the instructions. I don't use the touch screen so all that stuff just confused the issue for me. The biggest things to keep straight is which button does what and if you press and hold or just press and let go.

If you have any more questions just ask away.

On my particular cheap-imitation GoPro (SJ7000) I have found that the still photos are awful. I get much better still shots using Paint Shop Pro to grab a frame. I end up with better compositions this way and don't have to go through all that button pushing. I've been getting the smoothest video using 720 dpi @ 60 fps so they won't look very good if I blow them way up, but look just fine if printed out up to 5 X 7. Mine also has "motion-activated" and WiFi control with any ol' cheap Android phone, but I've never found a use for it. The instructions were not very helpful for the "motion-activated" feature (which seems to work quite well) but once I figured out to put the phone on "Car Mode" I could have it attached to an AC adaptor and not have to worry about the battery running down. If it's not on Car Mode it will give me two choices: portable storage device or webcam. It works fine for a web cam too.

I am so glad that I came across this thread! We are leaving for Cozumel in 3 weeks and I think my Sealife (about 5 years old) is on life support. I am looking at a few of these camera suggestions. The Yi 4K seems to get the best reviews. The Apeman is certainly more affordable. Has anybody heard of or tried the Campark(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078ZD824...id=3M0HJW3WS894A&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it)? It seems to have a lot of positive features. As for the filters, it appears that some of you have been ordering the ones for the Gopro and fine tuning to the brand you are using. Does this also work with the flip type of filters? Thanks in advance!
