Not for me!

LOL.

My sister and her husband are the typical "we visited X island" but never leave the resort types. Usually somewhere in Mexico. They are not divers and likely have zero interest in learning. They simply like to get out of the USA and have someone pamper them.

In her quest to find the next destination my sister mentioned an interest in zip-lining tonight. Immediately Roatan popped into my head. Plus the added bonus of visiting her brother, win-win.

What are the best options for someone that loves "visiting other countries" but never to leave the resort in Roatan?

Non-dovers? Me? I like them doves. Oh... non-divers? ;)

I would really tell them to go elsewhere. What non-diving activities exist will likely not counteract the effect of the real and actual National Bird of the Bay Islands: the Sand Flea. If they are really not going to leave the resort, as you say, I'd go to any other island that is way cheaper to fly to and with less bugs.

If I were a non-diver, I would get myself over to Lawson Rock Vacation Villas | Roatan & Honduras Vacation Rentals | Roatan Resorts Like almost every other AI non/limited-dive resort on Roatan, it's dive access and operation is unpredictable and iffy at best, but it's a pretty nice physical structure. In the same view, the daily service levels beyond basic housekeeping are a bit unpredictable, as well~ endemic to any Honduran run operation.

It is a very posh construction... seen on those goofy cable tv shows where idiots with more money than sense are looking for island homes. Infinity pools and waterfalls on the balcony- all that and more if you want.

Good point, Doc, and something I already was thinking about. I was hopeful I could get my sister close to me so I'd have a chance to show them the Bay Islands and get them off property - ya know, actually see the place you visit and all. Makes me ill to learn of where they went and what they spent, but never saw the country and never left the resort. But with this sister (I have 3), chances are I'd never hear the end of the sand flea situation. Actually, come to think of it, maybe that's exactly what she needs - a few weeks of hell on earth with sand fleas <evil grin>
