I spent 10 days at Beqa Lagoon Resort in 2007 and put my money down for a return visit in 2010. The resort is great, the people are friendly, the food is fantastic, and the diving is wonderful. Regarding your non-diving spouse, it depends on what she/he is looking for in a vacation. As mentioned above, there nothing on the island; however, the resort does schedule cultural activities during the afternoon. My wife does not dive but just wants to relax and read so she is happy sitting in the shade, reading, and staring out to the water. There is snorkeling and diving in front of the resort. I did a shore dive there and enjoyed it. I highly recommend the resort. BTW, click on the "photos" link to the left, under my name and you see some of my underwater pics from my trip to Beqa Lagoon Resort. If you go, I highly recommend the shark dive. It was incredibly good.

Bill

Thanks for all the tips everyone, but we have booked Lalati Resort instead.

They have a much smaller dive op (max 10 divers) and they run snorkel trips, which is better for me, the non-diver. They also are smaller accommodation-wise -- I think the max at any time is around 20 ppl.

I think it will suit our needs a little better. They are just up and around the north tip of the island so the diving likely is similar to Beqa resort. Will post a report hopefully when we get back.

I've read good things about the Lalati Resort. Are you familiar with Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor If not, you should search their site. I use it all the time to find places to stay. Here is a link to their Lalati Resort site. you will find traveler reviews for all the resorts. I have contributed several myself. Lalati Resort (Beqa Island, Fiji) - Resort Reviews - TripAdvisor. I used it to find a hotel, guide, and dive op when we went to Egypt for touring and scuba diving. In my opinion, it is an excellent resource for travelers.

Bill

Thanks hammerhead man. Yes I am very familiar with Trip Advisor and Lalati has all but one five-star reviews on there and that is partly why we booked it.

The ownership changed this year but apparently all the staff are the same. We can't wait to go.

It has gone broke three times I know of! Was too expensive and was more of a spa! I have a number of friends at the village! Say Hi to Ratu Stone or his daughter Solomi....
They were trying to get it reopened last Nov. when I was there! Good luck! Lots of pictures at twotankedproductions.com of Beqa, Fiji, and the diving as well as the best shark dive in the world! Good luck and have a great time! BTW the snorkeling is better at Beqa;)
