I stopped by the shop today, planning to drop off some gear for service. I opened the door and only then noticed there was a note on the door saying they were closed.
Ben's wife was at the counter and explained that he had been conducting a certification dive. The dive was completed and he was at the end of the float line. Around the time there were a couple people left to get on the boat, someone noticed he was face down in the water and not moving. The crew got him on the boat, started CPR, and notified the Coast Guard. CG was in the area, responded quickly, and had a medic on board who took over the situation, but they were unable to revive Ben. He apparently had a massive heart attack.
