I'm a Fish!
I live in Killeen and I dive Stillhouse almost every weekend. I want to dive Belton but I dont know anyone that has been diving there before. Does anyone know a good place to dive from the shore at Lake Belton?

Greetings DUI i want to dive stillhouse in march any dive condition reports on vis water temp good dive sites camp sites . plan on coming in late friday and dive all day saturday leave sunday . THANKS ROCKHUNTER

I have dove there in a number of places quite a few years ago. The water color looks pretty bad right now. Since Stillhouse had the Hydrilla take hold, it has consistently had better vis than Belton, not that either one has much vis now.

Have you found the old Ft Hood water plant at Stillhouse yet?

I dove Stillhouse 3 times last year and I enjoy it. I'm looking forward to going back. I want to find the old water treatment plant again.
I have had thoughts if Belton was a good dive. I may give it a try once it gets a little warmer.

I have found the old pump station at Stillhouse. I have about 50 dives at Stillhouse and I go just about every week. If anyone is planning a dive there and needs a buddy or wants to know how to get to the pump station from the shore let know.

Check the Sticky threads at the top of the Swampers (this) forum.
There is a sticky Dive Conditions thread. We try to keep it updated as we dive it.

DUI, do you dive from Stillhouse shore.....after doing tht semi long walk to the point? Or are there other places a doubles diver can enter with much less effort?? Thanks!

If you get to the lake early enough you can get pretty good parking thats not too far from "The Point". I do most of my dives from the shore. I have done a few dives around the marina but not too much there to see, but you dont have to carry a dive flag over there which is nice. If you can get a boat the South Side of the lake has some pretty good vis and it gets pretty deep (about 100 feet or so). I dont dive doubles and I have never seen anyone at Stillhouse use doubles.

I plan on doing a few more dives at Stillhouse this year. I am a cold water weenie so I will wait till it warm a little, hopefully in May at the latest. I would love to see the pump station sometime.
