And the Dive Rite. But again, no integrated weight pocket, if that's what's desired.
Not sure what is meant by "loops" inside the pocket, but if it means bungee, it should be possible to route some bungee through the grommets in most pockets. There are some old threads discussing best ways to add bungee in a pocket.
Yes, integrated weight pocket distinguishes this particular pocket from all of the others that I am aware of. The ability to remove my Dive Rite QR pocket and replace it with this storage pocket with integrated weight pocket is ideal for a less crowded waist strap. My husband and I aren't that thick in the middle so there's not that much room there to attach things. That's a good thing, no?
The Dive Rite vertical pocket does not have the integrated weight pocket as far as I'm aware. Plus, I wasn't able to get one in time for my trip. My LDS would have to special order it from the US or I'd have to buy it online from the US, which means foreign exchange/shipping/customs/duties/taxes (all the fun stuff that goes along with being in Canada).
"Loops" mean bungee loops, already sewn into the pocket itself. If it's already there, I'd prefer not to have to DIY it. The Halcyon one has 3, 2 in the main pocket and 1 in the small outside zippered pocket. It's a good pocket. Just crazy expensive. Is it worth it? I dunno. I'd have to see.
On the issue of ordering from the US as a Canadian, I often find that people don't understand the magnitude of the fees we must bear, such as foreign exchange and fees, shipping fees, brokerage fees, customs/duties and HST.
I'll provide an example. If I were to buy the Dive Rite vertical zippered pocket from DRIS for USD$34, and add the
least expensive form of shipping they offer, which is UPS Standard, for USD$25.03, the total will be USD$59.03. Then, I'll need to apply foreign exchange conversion, which is approximately 1.3 and it becomes CAD$76.74. I take that number and add on 13% HST (Ontario) and an estimated 10% for customs/duties, and it becomes $94.39. And then there's brokerage fees, which is a minimum of $10, so we're now at $104.39. So that's how a USD$34 pocket becomes a CAD$100 pocket. And considering that I paid less than CAD$130 for the Halcyon, are we really that far apart?
