Wife and I need to use up some miles before July 1st - or lose them. We would like to do someplace we have not seen in the General Carribian area, which would exclude Cozumel, Bonaire, and Grand Cayman. We are leaning heavy to Belize based on the direct flight, high quality of available resorts, diving, and topside activites. My big concern is the weather and June being the start of the rainy season. Any suggestions, or expereince, with this time of year? Should we stay away or is it really not that bad early in the season?

Thanks in Advance.

anything is possible in the Caribbean but I would bet that June would be okay. We have been to Coz 5 times, 4 of those in June, and never had a dive cancelled due to rain. Yes, it did rain occasionally (like 5-20 minutes), sometimes overnight, but not enough to affect our trip.

June weather, above and under water, is usually excellent. It's hot but less so than a bit later. It's out of high season so you'll find some bargains. What sort of hotel/activities interest you?

Funny you should mention that. My dive buddy and I usually travel whereever we can get standard reward fares and this May its Belize (weve done cozumel twice, the caymans, and roatan on reward tickets in the past 5 years).

We settled on diving off Turneffe from Blackbird Caye since the airfare was free. Turneffe seems to be priced like Little Cayman but you don't need a special day trip to dive the Elbow and obligatory (and overrated by many accounts) blue hole trip is much shorter.

Snag those rewards fares when you can, we lost our chance to do Turks-Caicos two years in a row because we drug our feet too long and all the reward seats got gobbled up.

We were there in late May last year and saw a bit of rain but not enough to affect any of our activities. I do still get a kick out of seeing a bunch of divers, who just got out of the water, scramble for cover when a little rain started :) Careful! don't let your dive gear get wet! :D

Have a GREAT time!!!!

March through June... my wife's favorite months for being a warm, suntanned diver.

Go man, go.
