I think I am not as flexible as most. The idea of reaching around and feathering back mounted tank valves for diving doubles would be a total non starter for me.

I don't want to reach around for my regulator. If I deploy a DSMB my regulator stays right in my hand. I guess it could get knocked out of my mouth.

I don't want to reach around for my corrugated hose in an emergency. I want it right on my Left shoulder D ring.

Dive warm and cold water with wet and dry suits, thus the Zen instead of Ghost. I have managed strap adjustments for good fit, better than any other BC, with single tank.
Issue: Mounting 13 cf pony tank. With other BC used tank mount. Now intend to mount on left side front. Suggestions please on hardware and experience with weight distribution would be helpful.

I don't know how it will work, but it may be possible to "sidemount" your pony (though I think 13 cf is rather small). What I mean is to connect to the BP. I'd have to see this in person to give any further advice.

A 13cuft is kinda small to sling. But it is possible. I'd suggest something like the photos. Mounted with the valve facing down and lower on the plate would be my preference. Weighting shouldn't be too much of a concern. You could always move 1 lb to the other side. I wouldn't add weight specifically, just shift the numbers around.

A 13 cf tank is horrible for slinging. A 19/30/40 sling great, a 13 cf just does not. It is just too short.

It's possible to rig a 13 to sling but it means having the lower clamp right at the bottom of the cylinder and you still need a longish leash on it to put the valve up close enough to your shoulder d ring that you can use a reasonable length leash.
Unless you are very short with a short torso. Then it's not too bad.
You can run a length of bungee through one of the top holes in the plate to loop around the valve to keep it in place as well.
As for weighting? Shouldn't need to adjust anything. Underwater a full 13 with 1st stage is maybe 2 lbs or so. At 500 psi it'll be slightly positive. Not enough either way to mess with.
A slung 40 doesn't have much effect for me.
These types of questions are why I require my AOW students to sling a bottle so they get practice doing it. Usually it's a 19 though for someone with an exceptional SAC rate. Otherwise a 30 or 40. Provided they use a BC that allows them to do it.
I'd try to sell the 13 and buy a 19 or even short 30. More uses and easier to rig for recreational pony use.

thanks. that is just what I was looking for. that sling arrangement is very doable. As I noted, 13 is small, but compact and easily packed. Locally I might use 19< using same set up. This an emergency air supply for safe assent, after equipment failure, not necessarily my own.

I was about to pull the trigger on the DGX package and noticed a significant jump in price of more than 10%, now at $399. Is this package still worth it or should other options be considered? I'm not looking at the cheapest, but would like to pick a solid option with good value. Looking to spend about <$500 to start with.

There's not a lot of deals on anything anywhere. If a company like DGX is charging more, it costs them more. I got one of the packages. 40 bucks is a drop in the bucket considering what we spend of gear.
