Hi Everyone;
First...thanks to all who responded to my earlier post regarding taking a non diving spouse on the Nekton. Following the majority of opinions this will be a solo trip for me on the March 8th, 2008 itinerary.
Now some new questions....I will be arriving in Belize City on Thursday March 6th at around noon and then, after the dive trip, leaving Belize City on Wednesday March 19th around 4 PM. I want to spend this additional time, before and after the cruise, doing some additional diving including the Blue Hole which Nekton doesn't include (yes...I know that some say it is not worth it but it is one of those dives that should be in my logbook for some perverse reason). I am looking for advice as to where else to go (Ambergris Caye, Placencia, Caye Caulker, etc.) dive operators to use and, since I am not taking my wife, clean-simple-inexpensive places to stay so that my budget can be mainly spent on diving (well maybe on some Belikens also!).
Anything that previous Belize travellers might have would be appreciated. We were in San Pedro two years ago but I couldn't dive because of a car accident. Prior to the accident I had narrowed Ambergris dive ops to Chuck and Robbie and am probably leaning that way still. I was also looking at Pedro's as a possible place to stay.
Thanks all and, if you want a buddy for that March on the Nekton let me know.
Ross
