Beaver 'easy fin springs' straps - opinions&sizing?

Hi,

Im needing to get myself an extra fin strap for a week to Scapa. I have Mares avanti quattro (sp?) fins so a strap is about a tenner.

I saw the new beaver spring straps (http://www.beaversports.co.uk/catalogue/fins/fins.htm) in diver magazine and theught they looked good - especially the handle to help pull them off as i can harldy get mine off at the end of a dive coz my hands are so cold!


I do realise that there are still plastic parts and they will get brittle - but so are my current ones anyway.

What do you guys think about them? The price is attractive! (£17)

Also, my local shop doesnt stock them so any suggestions as to size - i have small mares quattro fins?

Bought the Pro Version for the same reason - getting the fins off at the end of a dive.

Looking at the picture of the Beaver straps I believe them to be identical (you may want to check on the Innovative Scuba Website at www.innovativescuba.com)

They make 2 versions, I opted for the all-steel version for my Avanti Quattros.

Sizing is a bit tricky...I bought mine w/o having my fins present so I guessed Large for the straps on a Regular Quattro w/ Size 10, 5mm booty.

I have yet to try them but so far I think I made the right choice (dry testing), albeit on the larger side. I will leave for Bohol this weekend and know more then (I'll bring the Mares straps as a backup). It feels comfortable but may be too loose for strong currents.

Neither the plastic version nor the steel version are adjustable, but when in doubt, buy 2 sizes and sell the obsolete one...

I have boogies straps and they are rock solid and have no plastic parts.
