I still find myself worrying about the safety of my car keys every time we go diving from the beach (boats usually are not a problem, I get the skipper to keep my keys in my small watertight Pelican box). Where do you guys put your keys when you have kitted up, locked the car, and are about the do the SCUBA amble down to the beach for a nice dive? :coffee:

I take off the key from the remote and lock the remote in my truck and put the key in a zipped pocket of my BC. Hope this helps.

I bought this little waterproof pouch that is about the size of a wallet, but thin like a thick zip lock baggie. I put my keys in it and then put the pouch in my pocket.

I bought it at World Water Sports.

I take off my key from the remote as well and tie it onto the string for my shorts and tuck it into the shorts which is under my suit. It's not going anywhere after that.
I have been doing this from before diving for years when going jet-skiing, etc. and even though I have not made any real effort to wash the key, no rusting.

I usually take my car key off the keychain, take a hair elastic and thread it through the hole at the top of the key, and wear it around my wrist with the key flat at the inside of my wrist. I've always done that for swimming and snorkeling when the BC pockets weren't an option, and I've never lost a key or had one rust etc.

Good question - I don't have any doors or top to speak of.. so the Jeep is always open. Sometimes I use the lil 'not for climbing' D-ring and clip it under the middle of the drives seat.. it can't be seen there.. sometimes it goes diving with me. :)

I had a "non-path" key made at the dealer. It will unlock the doors but can't start the car. It clips to my BC or goes in a pocket. The actual key & remote are stashed in the car.
